Rimurimu, tere tere
E rere ki te moana.
E tere ana ki te ripo
I waho e.
Tirohia i waho ra
E marino ana e.
Kei roto i ahau
E marangai ana
We are absolutely devastated with news on the sudden passing of our Tīkarohia Te Marama Henare (Ngāti Hine, Ngāpuhi).
Our aroha and deepest condolences to her whānau, her māmā, Natasha Sadler and her pāpā, Tatai Henare.
In 2022, Tīkaro was seconded into Ngāti Hine FM after signing up to a pihinga (cadet) role on the innovative Māori Trades training inspired ‘Kia Tupu Kia Ora’ programme provided by Ngāti Hine Health Trust.
The placement exposed her to diverse media pathways and working environments, ultimately leading her to apply for the radio broadcasting programme and on the way to fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a reporter for Te Karere.
Tikarohia Henare recently completed her tohu and was one of the first wave of graduates of the inaugural broadcasting diploma offered through the 21 iwi radio stations and delivered by Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi in collaboration with Te Māngai Pāho and the NZ Radio Training School.
A supernova of exceptional talent, she will wholeheartedly be missed by her whānau at Ngāti Hine FM and Ngāti Hine Health Trust.
Rite tonu tō hanga
Ki te tīrairaka e
Waihoki tō hanga
Te wairangi e
